The aromatics of sunshine
In the world of Eaux de Vie there are those fruits whose generosity radiates through aroma and flavour. Their brilliance and immediacy belies their complexity. Apricot certainly falls into this category and wins many hearts.
Surprising to some is how well apricots ripen in the UK, a mid-season stone fruit they burst with aromatic complexity whilst retaining freshness in these maritime climes. However, this vintage carries pathos as well. In early 2023 snow hit the flowering trees in this Worcestershire orchard and wiped out 70% of the trees - it is a record of the splendour they once produced.
For Hedonism Wines 10th Year Anniversary we produced an exclusive Apricot Eau de Vie, fermented with just 10% of stones. Here we worked with 100%, sieving just before distillation. This has brought a rich, rounded and beautifully integrated stone tone to this Eau de Vie.
The essence of 19.5kg of wild fermented, English apricots to each litre.
A wave of the ripest of apricots; rich with great generosity, gliding effortlessly between weight and delicacy. The perception of sweetness is only enhanced by hints of sourness. Soaring floral notes combined with juice laden flesh bring a full sensory spectrum, rounded almond providing those grounding notes. An aroma that almost brings the sensation of sun on your skin.
